How to Season Your Grill!
Are you ready for a full summer of grilling? We love to grill all year round — especially hamburgers and hot dogs. One thing we tried this year is seasoning our grill burners. It doesn’t offer anything in terms of flavor but it does keep your grill in better shape throughout the long grilling season. It will also extend the life of the grill saving you money in the long run.
Here’s what you need:
– Burners from inside your grill
– Cookie Sheet and cooling racks
– Canola Oil
– Kitchen brush to spread on the oil
Grab a cookie sheet and a few cooling racks. Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. If you don’t know where your burners are in the grill, check your manual. These are really easy to take in and out as long as you know your grill.
Using kitchen gloves, spread the canola oil on the entire burner. You want to go from top to bottom, even the handle.
Try not to put too much oil in the side holes of the burner. These can get clogged up.
Line the burners up on your cookie sheet and put in the oven for 1 hour. Take out and let it cool. The cooked oils will cool — then put it back in the oven for another hour. This allows the burners to seal. This will extend the life of your burners and your grill will thank you!
Another great way to take care of your grill is to clean it after every use. I love this grill brush. (affiliate link)
