Homemade Turkey Stock
Have you ever wondered what to do with what’s left of the turkey once you are done with it? Whatever you do, don’t toss it out!
You can make your own Homemade Turkey Stock that can be used for Christmas, New Year’s Day or even next Thanksgiving!
This is really simple to do!
First fill a big pot with the bones of the turkey. We also added the neck from inside the turkey. Add any veggies you may have left over like carrots, celery and onion. All of this will give the stock flavor.
We also added herbs from the original turkey recipe like thyme, bay leaves, and cracked pepper corns. Add water to cover.
You will then put this on the stove, cover with lid and simmer on medium to low heat. It will simmer for about hours until it’s ready. You will know when it’s done when the meat is falling off the bone.
Take it off the stove and spoon out only the liquid. You will want to use air tight containers so you can keep it in the fridge or freeze it.
We were able to get 3 containers full which will be perfect for the next time we make a turkey dinner or need turkey stock.
