Homemade Kitchen Potpourri!
There are certain smells in the house that remind me of different times of the year! Apple Pie makes me think of Thanksgiving, the smell of freshly baked cookies brings me back to Christmas and this homemade kitchen potpourri has fall and Halloween written all over it! It’s amazing how certain smells in the kitchen make you think of special times of the year. What I like about this recipe is that it cooks all day, keeping the house smelling incredible! The recipe is pretty simple. One orange, one apple and a few cinnamon sticks. But water may be the key ingredient because if the potpourri drys out on the stove, it will just burn (and you will have a burn smell in your kitchen). Just cut the orange and apple into pieces.
Put in a small pot with the cinnamon sticks and add water. Bring the water to a simmer and enjoy the aroma of sweet apple cinnamon in the kitchen. As I mentioned, the key is to make sure you don’t run out of water. When it gets low, just add more water to the pot. This will have your kitchen and house smelling like fall!
