When it comes to ice cream, we can’t get enough during the summer months. It’s the best way to cool down and refresh after a long summer day. This Ice Cream is made in an ice cream maker, but if you don’t have one, here’s a recipe for Handmade Strawberry Vanilla Ice Cream that is just as good. This delicious after-dinner treat combines the delicious taste of ice cream with the healthy nutrients of strawberries..a win-win!
Ice Cream Ingredients
This delicious ice cream needs only 6 ingredients, mostly items you probably already have. I always have heavy cream in the fridge over the summer months so we can make homemade ice cream.
- Strawberries
- Sugar
- Heavy Cream
- Whole Milk
- Vanilla Extract
- Salt
How to Make Ice Cream
- Start by cutting up the strawberries. Add the chopped strawberries to a bowl with half the sugar. The sugar will melt into the strawberries. After 15 minutes, add to a food processor or blender and puree until smooth.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the strawberry puree with the heavy cream, whole milk, vanilla extract, salt, and more sugar. Mix until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add to your ice cream maker and follow instructions. It usually takes about 30 minutes.
- Remove and add to an ice cream container or bread loaf pan. Keep in the freezer.
Notes
- If you are going to store the ice cream in a bread loaf, put in the freezer for at least one hour before adding the ice cream to keep it cold.
- You can make the dessert a bit chunkier by adding a few extra strawberries once it’s done in the ice cream maker.
- Keep the ice cream in the freezer when not enjoying it — if you don’t finish it all in one serving:)
