Puff Pastry Strawberry Tart

Before you enjoy all of your pumpkin and apple recipes for fall, don’t ignore the lovely strawberry!  This Puff Pastry Strawberry Tart recipe will make you forget about the season and just enjoy a light and fluffy dessert!

Everyone should have puff pastry shells or sheets in their freezer at all times. It’s the one dessert you can whip up in an instant. I love to use both for easy dessert recipes like this one!

It all starts with fresh, colorful strawberries. I washed the cut up about a pint or container of strawberries. Just cut these lovelies in half. Mix together the strawberries with some strawberry jam and white sugar to create a delicious sauce on the strawberries.

This recipe also calls for a beautiful, light and fluffy whipped cream mixture for some added flavor and texture.  This can truly be your favorite whipped cream topping.  I combined whipped cream with a softened cream cheese.  After putting this dessert together, I also put a lime zest on top.  This beautiful dessert works after dinner or can even be enjoyed with a cup of coffee for a morning breakfast!

I also love the ease of this recipe.  It’s a dessert that comes together so quickly and is so delicious, it’s worth the effort!  Enjoy!

  • 3/4 cup Sugar divided
  • 8 oz. Cream Cheese softened
  • 1/2 container Whipped Cream
  • Zest of Lime

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees

  2. Mix together the egg with 2 teaspoons of water to create an egg wash

  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a parchment lined cookie sheet.  The pastry should be in the shape of a rectangle or oval

  4. Use a fork to pierce holes in the puff pastry to allow air in.

  5. Brush the egg wash along the edges of the puff pastry

  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown, set aside and cool

  7. While in the oven, cut the strawberries in half and place in mixing bowl.  Add the jam and a 1/4 cup of sugar to create a strawberry sauce.

  8. In another mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and half of a container of whipped cream (I used Cool Whip).  Add the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar and mix well

  9. After the puff pastry cools, spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on top.

  10. Add the strawberries on top of the cream cheese mixture.

  11. Add the zest of the lime on top of the strawberries and chill.

  12. Serve cold
