Homemade Holiday Kitchen Potpourri!
We all associate certain smells with different times of year. Sun tan lotion makes me think of summer, apple pie reminds me of Thanksgiving and cinnamon makes me think of Christmas. So here is a great recipe for Homemade Holiday Kitchen Potpourri that will get you in the holiday spirit. Put this on your stove top, put on the Michael Buble Christmas CD and start wrapping your Christmas presents. It will definitely get you in the holiday spirit! What I like about this recipe is that it cooks all day, keeping the house smelling incredible! The recipe is pretty simple. One orange, one apple and a few cinnamon sticks. But water may be the key ingredient because if the potpourri drys out on the stove, it will just burn (and you will have a burn smell in your kitchen). Just cut the orange and apple into pieces.
Put in a small pot with the cinnamon sticks and add water. Bring the water to a simmer and enjoy the aroma of sweet apple cinnamon in the kitchen. As I mentioned, the key is to make sure you don’t run out of water. When it gets low, just add more water to the pot.
This will keep your home smelling like the holidays all day long!
I love warm smells in my home! I will have to try this one!
Meredith — it’s really a beautiful potpourri that lasts all day!
