Homemade Spicy French Fries
I am a french fries kind of girl! I mean who isn’t right? French fries should be a super food. We all love them and they go with just about everything!
I have so many memories of eating french fries. Whether it be on the Jersey boardwalk eating curly fries with vinegar or my first taste of McDonalds fries or even my mom’s homemade version.
As much as I love french fries, I have never made them from scratch…until now. This
This Homemade Spicy French Fries recipe really adds a great flavor to this food classic.
I actually made two versions of these yummy fries…one with a little heat for my husband and I. The other is kid friendly with less spice.
The first thing you do is soak the potatoes in water for a few minutes. It makes the cooking process easier.
Then I cut up 4 large potatoes into strips. Always cut the potato long ways so they are even.
Put your cut-up potatoes in a ziplock bag.
Then you add the olive oil and spices.
For the spicer version, I used garlic, paprika, onion powder, chili powder and salt & pepper.
For the kids version, I added the olive oil, garlic, greek seasoning plus salt & pepper.
Close the bag and shake. You will actually use your hands outside the bag to mix everything up. You want to make sure each of the potatoes is covered in the olive oil and spices.
You want to cover a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick spray before you add the fries to the pan.
In the oven at 450 degrees, cook the fries for 30-45 minutes. The time will depend on how crispy you like your fries. I like them crunchy so I left mine in for 45 minutes.
Add a little more salt and enjoy!
