Looking for a light and easy dessert recipe? This Puff Pastry Strawberry Tart will be icing on the cake for a special dinner for family and friends.
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees
Mix together the egg with 2 teaspoons of water to create an egg wash
Roll out the puff pastry on a parchment lined cookie sheet. The pastry should be in the shape of a rectangle or oval
Use a fork to pierce holes in the puff pastry to allow air in.
Brush the egg wash along the edges of the puff pastry
Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown, set aside and cool
While in the oven, cut the strawberries in half and place in mixing bowl. Add the jam and a 1/4 cup of sugar to create a strawberry sauce.
In another mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and half of a container of whipped cream (I used Cool Whip). Add the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar and mix well
After the puff pastry cools, spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on top.
Add the strawberries on top of the cream cheese mixture.
Add the zest of the lime on top of the strawberries and chill.
Serve cold
