Black-Eyed Peas with Bacon

Ingredients

  • 1 can of Black-eyed peas 15 oz or bag of dry Black-eyed peas
  • 4 slices of Bacon cooked
  • 1 tablespoon Butter melted
  • 1/2 medium Onion chopped
  • 1 clove Garlic minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dry Thyme

Instructions

  1. Empty can of Black-eyed peas into dutch oven
  2. Add the cooked chopped bacon
  3. In separate skillet, melt the tablespoon of butter
  4. Add the chopped onions and cook until soft
  5. Add the minced garlic and thyme and cook for another minute
  6. Add the garlic onion mixture to the bacon and Black-eyed peas
  7. Add an additional cup of water
  8. Cook on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes to incorporate the flavors
  9. Serve hot
