My Favorite Cookbooks Right Now

Still looking for a last minute gift for the foodie in your life?  I put together a list of My Favorite Cookbooks Right Now for you to pick up for someone special on your list!

These five books are both cookbooks and lifestyle books. And all five have wonderful recipes to choose from and photos to drool over.

1. Cook Beautiful by Athena Calderone is beautifully written with lovely recipes from her Italian-American family.  She also believes in eating beautifully so all of the photos are stunning!  She also takes you on a trip through the seasons so you are prepared all year.

2. The Cottage Kitchen by Marte Marie Forsberg is probably my favorite cookbook of 2017!  Marte brings us to her lovely English Cottage where she shares recipes from her Norweigan family.  Marte is a gifted writer and the stories she tells are just as good as the food.  And look for her dog Mr. Whiskey appear quite often in her kitchen.

3. Barefoot in Paris by Ina Garten is a wonderful book made up of easy french recipes you can make at home. You can’t include a list of favorites without Ina. She also has a new book out this holiday season called Cook Like a Pro: Recipes and Tips for Home Cooks.  I love Paris just as much as I love the English countryside so this book takes me back to Paris where I had the time of my life.

4. Milk Street by Christopher Kimball is another wonderful gift idea.  Christopher Kimball was the brains behind America’s Test Kitchen and is now out on his own.  This is his first book in the Milk Street series and it’s wonderful.  It gives you tasty recipes for what home cooking has become.  We have found tons of keepers in this book.

The Good Housekeeping Illustrated Cookbook

5. The Good Housekeeping Illustrated Cookbook is a classic and my dad’s favorite cookbook. In fact this book is really personal to me because my dad cooked from it so much, there are food stains throughout. I am so lucky to have gotten this gem after he passed. There is a wonderful recipe for Mushroom Soup that was one of his favorites (and mine).

You will love these cookbooks for your friends and family.  A cookbook is a wonderful gift to give anyone — it tells them you care about helping them expand their family dinners.  It’s also fun to try something new!  Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
